Bond
Bond is quite a charmer. He originally came into the shelter with his loving brother, Agent, as a young adult in March 2005. Both became permanent residents due to problems with spraying. The boys liked to see everything that was going on in the shelter. Their inquisitive nature made them two of the staff favorites. When one of our prior Guardian Angel cats, Montgomery, celebrated her 15th birthday they took it upon themselves to check out her birthday cake and make sure it had not been tampered with. A quick jump and run through the cake revealed that everything was safe and the party could continue. Their quick actions received many a laugh from the staff and partygoers. Both were never far from one another and can be quite entertaining.
Agent sadly passed away in July 2017 and was a much-beloved lap cat that would never let an empty lap stay that way for long. Bond is adjusting to life without Agent and would love to have some new friends to visit and play with him… and be sure to turn the water on for him so he can indulge in his passion for drinking out of the faucet!

Fannie
Fannie came to Cat Welfare in June 2006 at the tender age of 7 weeks. She was very wild, hated her cage, and jumped around in it at a very fast speed. The vet says she has "neurological issues." Her hind feet don't coordinate well with the rest of her so she tends to waddle when she walks and gallop when she runs. Her eyes also don't seem to dilate normally so in the beginning her name was "Owl Cat" because of the way her eyes looked. Some of the other cats at the shelter find her annoying and will sometimes chase her causing her to have what is referred to as a "drama queen moment" where she makes a blood-chilling sound that grabs everyone's attention.
She used to have little temper tantrums whenever someone held her. Now she is fine up until the moment she thinks she will be let down and then fears that she is going to be dropped. Of course, her wiggling increases the possibility of being dropped, but don't bother trying to convince her! Don’t let her quirks turn you off. Her goofiness is a big part of what makes her so lovable! She is often one of the first cats newcomers notice. She is one of the most entertaining cats to watch at the shelter and can often be found dipping her paw in the water bowl, chasing tufts of fur on the floor, or patting at the permanent dots on the floor tiles.

Maurice
Maurice, also known as Mo, came to Cat Welfare in 2012 and is approximately 6 years old. He always draws attention with his good looks and thinks he and Lily (another of our Guardian Angel cats) would make a great “King” and “Queen” of Cat Welfare. Before arriving at Cat Welfare, someone had all four of his paws declawed. While at our shelter, it was discovered that he had horrible dental disease and all of his teeth had to be extracted. His personality along with his gorgeous green eyes, cute snowshoe paws, and distinguished gentleman good looks makes him one of our most asked about kitties. He was adopted multiple times and each time he was returned for not using the litter box so he is now a permanent resident of the shelter.
Maurice’s favorite spot to hang out is in the main adoption room on top of one of the shorter cat trees. He loves to be brushed and will even bump his head up against you to show you he cares. If he is craving more attention, he will reach out his paw to pull your hand to him so you know he wants to be petted more. Maurice’s tail is always on the move flicking one way or the other leaving visitors to inquire if he is upset with something. He prefers that people don’t pet him on his hind end and if someone does then sometimes he will try and bite, or should we say gum, them as a warning. Maurice is quite the talker so stop on in so he can tell you all about his journey that day and catch you up on the Cat Welfare kitty news.

Lily
Lily came to Cat Welfare in 2008. Being such a sweet and beautiful girl she always would get lots of attention from potential adopters. She was adopted out several times and was always returned when she stopped using the litter box. In 2011, it was decided that Lily would become a permanent resident of Cat Welfare. The structure and routine of the shelter is perfect for Lily. Everyone that meets her falls in love with her. She is a striking beauty that loves to be held, petted, and is a wonderful lap sitter. When she is particularly content, she will nibble lightly on your chin. She loves people and gets along well with the other cats in the shelter. Lily is a regular visitor to nursing homes to give residents some much needed pet therapy. She is not a big fan of the car ride there, but once she is inside the building she quickly assumes her role as ambassador. She’s easy going with the residents and often climbs into their beds. She has also made special trips to some of the friends she made in the hospice program at one of the homes; even going to them in their final days because they asked to see her one more time. Many times Lily can be found greeting people at the front of the shelter or meticulously grooming her beautiful hair on a chair or in a pet bed.
Lily truly believes that one must always put their best foot (or paw) forward so she likes to make sure her hair is always clean, free of tangles, and that the white parts are brilliantly white. She prefers to do her hair herself though and brushing is not something she welcomes. Lily likes to imagine her marathon grooming sessions as time at a spa where she is being pampered and treated like she is the most precious girl in the world. Precious is definitely a word that describes our Lily.

Sherbert
Sherbert came to Cat Welfare in 2009 and is almost 9 years old. She is a beautiful, long haired, declawed, black feline who likes attention on her own terms. She prefers the company of humans over other cats so she is always pleased when someone will whisk her away to the “get acquainted” room for a TLC session. Many times you will find her sitting on one of the cat trees by the door to that area waiting to catch someone’s eye so she can draw them in, get some petting, and show off her loud purr. She can get a little nippy though if other cats are close by as she really likes to have some distance from the other cats. If she is feeling nervous, then sometimes she will nibble on her hair.
One of her favorite parts of the day is when a favorite staff member brings her some yummy wet food in a special spot where she doesn’t feel intimidated by the other cats. If Sherbert is still craving more attention, then sometimes she will do a cute run in front of you and then plop onto her side in hopes that you will stop and pet her more. Sherbert was adopted and returned multiple times for not using the litter box so she is now a permanent resident of Cat Welfare. As she loves children, being petted, and the opportunity to get some time away from the other cats, she sometimes serves as a Cat Welfare ambassador at off-site events. Sherbert hopes you will come in to visit her soon; just look for the striking black beauty hanging out in the back room.
